How Many Scouts Can You Recruit?

With the beginning of the school year, it is also time to do some more recruiting.  Last year I went to the schools with Laura, and we recruited many new scouts.  I will go again this year (if I am around and not in another state) to see how many more scouts we can get signed up.

You can help me out by inviting your friends to join.  Two years ago there were several scouts that invited others to join, and earned a badge in the process.  This year every time you get someone to join scout you will earn three (3) points.  If you remember last year we used the points to determine who got to choose a prize first at the Blue & Gold.  We may do that again, or we may come up with something else.  Either way, points are a good thing to earn!

There are invitation cards located here.  Print them out (set up for double sided), put your name on it, and give them to your friends.

You will earn two (2) additional points if you come to the roundup (date to be set) and share your experiences by answering questions from the new scouts.

If you know someone who cannot make it to the roundup, invite them to the picnic instead.  You will still earn your three points if they bring along their card that you gave them.

Only one card is honored per new scout, so if three scouts give them a card, they will need to choose who gets the points.

As an extra, all new scouts will get two (2) points just for signing up!

Who can make the best obstacle course?

For the October meeting I would like to have an obstacle course competition. Every scout that submits an entry by the September pack meeting (no late entries) will earn three points.  If the scout actually sets up and runs the obstacle course at the October meeting, they will earn two additional points.  The winner of the competition (voted on by the scouts) will be awarded two more points.

-   The course must have between 3-5 tasks to perform

-   The course must be safe for scouts in Halloween costumes

-   The course can not be difficult (remember the ages of scouts involved)

-   The scout must be the primary designer and builder (adult help is fine, but the scout needs to do what they can)

-   Please keep the course design as small as reasonable, if we have a lot of entries I do not want to have the competition in the parking lot.
