Cub Scout Pack 388 Newsletter for 8/06 |
|
Welcome one and all! With the beginning of the school year also comes the beginning of another year of scouting. There are many faces from the past as well as some new faces to look forward to soon.
To the boys of the pack, thank you! Without your participation there is no pack. The fact that you chose to be part of the pack is the inspiration that we need for another great year. I do need something from each of you though. I know that you came to be with friends, do activities, and help the community. I also need you to have fun!
To the parents of the pack, thank you! Without your support at home, school, and activities like the Cub Scouts, your children would have a much harder time growing up. You are the key leaders and peers (even when your children do not want to think of you that way) for your sons and daughters. I ask that you continue nurturing your treasures. If you have any extra time, the pack can use your help in many ways. This can be something small like working with your son to earn an extra badge, helping with a den meeting, or making snacks for a pack meeting.
To the adult leaders of the pack, thank you! Without your assistance to coordinate meetings and activities, as well as inviting the boys of the pack into your homes and hearts; much of the activities, growth, and fun outside of the home could be lost. Many of you have dedicated one or more years already to the continuation of the pack, and its continued existence here in Stratford is a testament to your hard work.
And finally to everyone else, thank you! You may be a sibling of a scout, a Boy Scout helping out with a den, or a volunteer from the community. Your support helps to keep the Cub Scouts strong.
Remember that the Cub Scout follows Akela, and Akela means Ògood leaderÓ. Everyone is both a follower and a leader in different circumstances. While the adults are the primary Akela in the organization, I know that personally the scouts (and all children) are very capable of teaching and leading myself at times also.
September Challenge! We need a name for the newsletter; do you have one that we could use? This challenge is open to all the Cub Scouts (sorry everyone else). There are two ways to enter, and please only one entry per person.
¯ Contact your Den leader and let them know; or ¯ Send me an email @ silverdragon@tznet.com. Be sure to put Pack388 in the subject and your recommendation and name in the text of the message.
The troop will vote on the name for the newspaper during our October pack meeting (donÕt miss it).
